Most friends of mine spend hours and hours online, either to chat on messengers or to hang out in social networking media such as Facebook or MySpace. Many of my ex-students are now into blogging also and they probably spend more time on writing posts or just hang out on Facebook playground than playing in the real world.

If you are one of those cyber people who love blogging or basically just playing online, you can turn your playground into a cash machine to earn you a little money so that your time spent online will not be time wasted. Here is how you can do that:

Everybody is passionate about something. You may be passionate about politics and you hang out on Facebook mostly talking about politics. Or maybe fashion is your thing. Whatever it is, if you love talking for hours about a favourite subject, that subject is your passion and it can very much turn into a cash machine. Decide what your passion is, and then take it from there.

Sign up for a free account on WordPress.com or Blogger.com and set up your new blog. Start blogging and just writing about your favorite band or about fashion or photography. When this is done, promote it to your friends on your favorite social network. On Facebook you can easily do this using their great blog network application. Start inviting your friends, families and other people in your Facebook friend’s list to grow your network. Traffic will start rolling in.

Also, remember that the more frequent you update your blog, the more visitors you will get. Every time there is a new post in your blog, spread the word out in social networking media. When you start getting traffic and have more than 3-4 posts in your blog, start looking into options on monetizing your blog. Here are 3 of my favorite programs to make money:

1.) Google Adsense
This is a great way to earn a good income if you know how. There are great forums where you can learn from people who are more experienced in this and are very helpful. My favorite forum where I learn from great and successful Adsensers is Netbuilders.org.

2.) NeverBlueAds
This is a great affiliate program that you can join for free. They have a variety of campaigns that you can choose from according to your passion. If car is your passion, you can advertise their car loan campaign on your blog and earn a commission from the sales that you make.

3.) Text-Links Ads
This program is great if your blog is in English. Joining this program is free and it allows you to sell text link advertisement on your blog posts. This program works pretty much like Text Link ads where you sell text links within your posts but you get paid per click that those ads get.
